Investment in R&D and Introduction of Electronic Warp Knitting Machines have been Boosting Hosiery Manufacturing in Taiwan

Taiwanese hosiery manufacturers have been making a lot of investment in the technology and the R&D sector in order to produce a variety of hosiery items. Shetou, a hosiery village in Changhua, Central Taiwan, has been gaining popularity for supplying 90% of stockings and other hosiery items of women’s use to the international market. Around 200 hosiery factories are currently operating in Changhua and these are providing regular cotton socks, pantyhose, fishnet tights and other hosiery items for many international brands such as Chanel and Victoria’s Secret.

The boost in Taiwan’s hosiery manufacturing can be attributed to the high investment in R&D and the use of electronic warp knitting machines. And in comparison to single-machine, the stand-alone operation used in the past, it has now become possible to make a complete row of stockings all at the same time. This has greatly improved the production capacity of the hosiery manufacturing industry in Taiwan. In addition to this, the 3D print technology has become all the more popular these days in Taiwan’s hosiery market.

It has been observed that the use of these technologies has made it possible to create a variety of styles of stockings, such as making special holes in silk stockings for passing ribbons through, adding colors, and lace, or a combination of net and silk stockings. With the use of 3D printing technology, the Taiwanese manufacturers have been producing different styles and designs of hosiery items. Due to this, they have been attracting many international brand OEM and ODM orders from different corners of the world.
