CEO Sean Pandya Shares His Advice on Growth, Business, and Ethics

If you scroll through Sean Pandya’s Instagram feed, you’ll see luxury cars and fitness updates. While these are two of his passions, they don’t represent the whole picture. What you don’t see is the hard work, mental growth, and dedication to business that it took to get to this level. Sean Pandya sat down with us to give a closer look at his unique story.

On Personal Growth

Pandya is no stranger to hardships. He spent years of his life being bullied for being different. This caused a great deal of anxiety and self doubt. He had to commit to putting in hours of hard work to overcome this lacking mindset. Pandya says that rather than trophies and awards, the self discipline that has bloomed from this tough time in his life is his biggest success.

He also recognizes the importance of listening to your gut. When Pandya was in college, pursuing a degree and following the traditional route – something told him that this wasn’t the path for him. He felt ready to jump into business; he felt called to leadership. Though at the time it was a huge decision to leave college, he now recognizes that the turmoil he felt in that time period was an essential turning point. When others didn’t see his potential – he pushed hard toward his goals to prove them wrong – and prove himself right. As Pandya says, you must focus on your star player: yourself.

On Business

With a huge focus on team, Pandya has proven time and time again the importance of surrounding yourself with the best. Amcon differentiates itself with over 35 years of experience in the engineering industry – and it is this knowledge, paired with a team of experts that has led to success. As Pandya points out – you cannot judge a fish for its inability to climb a tree. In other words, you cannot expect your team to know how to do everything – let them be experts in their own unique fields, and come together to collaborate on their ultimate goal. Pandya aims to be the kind of leader that others can turn to in times of need, as he pushes to foster a positive environment for all.

In business, you must have self discipline and grit. You must be able to persevere, and follow your gut. Just as Pandya followed his gut in college, he has followed it in business. When cannbis was legalized in 2018, he pushed for the business to go after the industry. Others doubted him and said that the industry was too stigmatized. He has since spearheaded the department dedicated to engineering and building design for large scale cannabis cultivation projects. It has earned the Amcon huge returns and successes.

Personal Life

In his personal time, Pandya admits he struggles to stop working. Since he loves his job, he really doesn’t mind working in his spare time.  He’s been interested in fitness since his teens, so self care and health have been a part of his daily practices for years. Pandya is also a huge animal lover. His cat, Max, showed up on his doorstep one day, meowing for attention. Since then, Pandya has been donating to animal welfare charities and dreams of opening a cat rescue shelter. Pandya also has an affinity for cars. While the cars appear flashy, they tell a deeper tale. One with years of struggle, hard work, and a commitment to success. Pandya truly believes failure is not an option – and he lives that everyday.
