From her early life struggles to her constant battle against injustice, Khovanski draws her unique creativity from her many life experiences
As an incredibly talented photographer and popular model, Louisa Khovanski has become a star in the social media space in just a single year. In her first year alone, Khovanski has gathered a massive following of over 1.1 million fans on Instagram through her creative content. She has also accumulated a large following on YouTube. Although she has only been on social media for a year, she has been working hard for many years to build an in-depth understanding of business and sharpen her skills as a photographer. In fact, Khovanski has been a photographer for a little over 6 years where she gained extensive experience working with top-tier talent and brands, among other things. Over time, Louisa had worked with numerous models, and after gaining a general understanding of the art from photographing them, she decided to pursue modeling as well. Louisa stated, “How cool would it be to be able to be a model and a photographer? You can rely on yourself for everything.” This is exactly what she did, and it’s safe to say she did an outstanding job.
As Khovanski’s popularity began to grow online, she started to experience a plethora of discriminatory comments regarding her curvy figure. She knew these stigmas associated with being curvier existed through discussions with her peers, but experiencing this negativity firsthand really opened her eyes and inspired her to make a change. Khovanski has made it her mission to fight against these stigmas in the social media industry, and she strives to educate the masses that behind the pretty faces and curvy figures lies many businesswomen and artists. “The most difficult thing with being an ambitious, curvy-figured model on social media is getting people to appreciate your work just as much as they appreciate your look. This is an extremely hard thing to do,” Louisa expressed. Louisa understands that the human body is one of the oldest representations of art dating back thousands of years, and she feels it should remain this way. She feels that many people over-sexualize women who create art through the use of their bodies and emphasizes that there is a substantial difference between art of sexuality and vulgarity.
As you can probably imagine, being both a photographer and a model is a lot of work. Louisa prides herself on being a one-woman team. She credits her difficult upbringing to establishing a strong work-ethic and ambitious mindset. In her earlier years as a child and teenager, she grew up in poverty and dreamt of one day being able to support herself and family. Now that she’s able to do this, she doesn’t take a moment for granted. She mentioned that she takes no days off, as being consistent with her work keeps her creativity flowing. Khovanski also mentioned that she is never satisfied with her work and is always looking to improve in some form.
Khovanski is someone that people around the world can look up to. She possesses endless talents and potential yet strives to give back and fight for what is right. In a world filled with people only interested in themselves, it’s refreshing to see someone use their platform to make the world a better place. She plans to continue fighting against the stigmas attached to curvy women in the industry and doesn’t plan to stop till they are treated equally.
