Impact Dog Crates Launches $4,200 Crypto-Powered ‘Doge Crate’

Impact Dog Crates, a U.S.-based manufacturer of premium pet enclosures, has launched a new limited-edition crate inspired by internet meme culture and cryptocurrency communities. The product, called the Doge Crate, is priced at $4,200.69 and can only be purchased using cryptocurrency.

The crate is constructed from space-grade aluminum and features a matte gold finish along with laser-cut Dogecoin iconography. It is airline-approved, collapsible for portability, and features reinforced corners and commercial-grade hardware.

The company said the crate is designed for “escape artists, road warriors, and intergalactic explorers,” a nod to the internet origins of the product’s branding. While the Doge Crate is structurally similar to other offerings from Impact, its aesthetic and payment model are directly tied to the cryptocurrency space.

A Growing Market for Crypto-Tied Products

The Doge Crate joins a growing number of consumer goods that are intentionally designed to appeal to the tight-knit online cryptocurrency community. Over the past five years, brands in fashion, electronics, and collectibles have introduced limited-run products featuring blockchain branding, meme references, and alternative payment options—including exclusive crypto wallets, NFT-based merchandise, and “web3-native” product drops.

While some of these products have achieved short-term virality, most have remained niche—appealing to early crypto adopters, online communities, and collectors of internet ephemera. The Doge Crate appears to be following that trend, pairing a functional item with symbolic value aimed at an internet-literate consumer base.

Impact Dog Crates has not disclosed how many units will be produced or whether the item will remain available beyond the initial release window.

From Meme to Market

The Doge Crate references Dogecoin, a cryptocurrency originally created in 2013 as a parody of the crypto boom. It was inspired by the viral image of a Shiba Inu named Kabosu, whose face—paired with Comic Sans captions like “so wow” and “much noble”—became one of the internet’s most widely shared memes.

Despite its origins, Dogecoin developed a large user base and received widespread media attention in the early 2020s following public endorsements from high-profile figures, including Elon Musk. Its market capitalization peaked at over $90 billion in 2021.

Kabosu, the dog behind the meme, passed away in 2024. She remains a prominent symbol in digital culture, with her image still appearing in blockchain-related projects and cryptocurrency fan communities.

Limited Practical Use

While the Doge Crate is functional and built to the specifications of Impact’s existing high-end models, its elevated price tag—roughly ten times higher than the company’s base offerings—has drawn attention online. Some consumers have questioned whether the crate provides additional utility beyond its aesthetic design.

There are no embedded electronics, blockchain features, or integrations with pet-tracking technologies. Aside from the option to purchase it with crypto, the product does not offer unique technological benefits.

A spokesperson for the company did not immediately respond to a request for comment on future availability or international shipping options.
